Chinese stocks opened lower on Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index declining 2.58% from the previous closing, following the massive decline in neighboring markets.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A shares and B shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, opened lower at 1932.60, down 51.16 points from Thursday.
The Shenzhen Component Index on the smaller Shenzhen Stock Exchange opened 2.81% points lower at 6508.93 points.
